23 Jun: Beautiful Again

I create new heavens and a new earth. Isaiah 65:17

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 65:17–25

On many home renovation shows, the host often says, “Imagine this!” Then the camera begins to reveal what an old room could become. Worn floors are renewed. Plain walls are brightened. Forgotten spaces begin to feel alive again. In one episode, the homeowner walked in after the work was finished and could hardly contain her joy. Again and again, she said, “That’s beautiful!”

Isaiah 65:17–25 gives us a far greater picture of renewal. God speaks of a day when He will restore heaven and earth: “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind” (Isaiah 65:17).

This is not a small repair or a fresh coat of paint. It is a complete restoration. God promises a world where sorrow will not have the final word, where life will flourish, and where His people will enjoy the fruit of their labour. “They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them” (Isaiah 65:21). Even violence and destruction will come to an end: “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the Lord (Isaiah 65:25).

That promise points to the future, when God will make all things new. But the same God who will renew creation is already renewing lives today. Paul writes, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

So when life feels damaged by doubt, disobedience, pain, or regret, we are not beyond restoration. Jesus does not simply cover the broken places. He makes people new. The work of Christ is real. His mercy is available. His grace can rebuild what sin, fear, and sorrow have touched. Come to Him. Trust Him. Let Him begin His renewing work in you.
